Evolution of Nexus : HTC, Samsung, Samsung, LG, LG, Motorola, LG and NOW Huawei!

Having a pure Android OS on device is something most of the Android users desire and chasing after for. 6 years ago, Google has foresee this and so created the Nexus series. Nexus series is a popular range of smartphone among tech enthusiasts and Android fans. Started as a developer smartphone in the early days of Android, Nexus series has slowly evolved since the introduction of first Nexus device.

Nexus One – January 2010
HTC was the first smartphone company chosen by Google to make first ever Nexus smartphone, called Nexus One. It was launched in 2010, where the device is just running Android 2.1 Eclair OS which is powered by single-core processor, 512 MB of RAM and 5 MP main camera. 

It offered with Google Voice and Google Maps. The design was very similar to HTC Desire and was encased in a uni-body consisting of an aluminum frame and polycarbonate back, considered one of the finest smartphone during that era.

Nexus S – December 2010
The second generation Nexus smartphone was manufactured by Samsung and introduced as Nexus S which running Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The Nexus S created history to be the first Android phone that fully support NFC. It featured organic curves and plastic housing, along with a 4 inch screen, 5 MP camera and 512 MB of RAM.

Galaxy Nexus – December 2011
Google continued the partnership with Samsung and launched their new Galaxy Nexus in 2011. This time, the user interface went for a facelift with the introduction of new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich which offered a darker theme compared to previous OS. 

The Galaxy Nexus’s exterior design is slightly curved and used matte polycarbonate housing with a small glimmer. The Galaxy Nexus was one of the most eye catching phone with great specifications such as HD Super AMOLED screen, 2 GB of RAM, dual core processor etc.

Nexus 4 – November 2012
In 2012, Google shifted the partnership to LG. LG Nexus 4 stunned the mobile world with the classy looking glass back panel. Google has established a strong connection with LG, their partnership later released Nexus 5 and the latest Nexus 5X this year. 

LG Nexus 4 used LG Optimus G’s design language with soft-touch rubberized edge and glass back that had a glitter effect to make it look extremely classy. Running on the Snapdragon S4 Pro together with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with attractive retail price made it one of the most sought after Google Nexus phone of all time!

Nexus 5 – October 2013
LG’s second Nexus smartphone, Nexus 5 was announced in late 2013 and featured a more simplified look which resulted simple and pragmatically elegant in a deviceNexus 5 was the pioneer in using transparent navigation and notification bar which become the standard in Android version nowadays.

Nexus 5 also known to be a high end specs smartphone with knock down price. 4.95 inch Full HD display and 2.26 GHz quad-core processor are just few highlights on it. 

Nexus 6 – November 2014
Motorola Nexus 6 was the first Nexus line in offering 6 inch Quad HD AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 805 and a 13 MP OIS camera. The Nexus 6 also features water-resistant and pre-installed with Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Nexus 5X – September 2015
Again, Nexus 5X from LG announced in September this year. This round, LG added a fingerprint sensor on the back and offered an all-round camera in Nexus device. Pre-loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the Doze feature will be a life saver for heavy users.

Nexus 6P – September 2015
Now, the final Nexus smartphone that was released alongside LG Nexus 5X, called Nexus 6P was made by China’s tech giant - Huawei which also marks Google’s first partnership with Huawei in Nexus manufacturing. The reason that made this partnership success is due to their recent sales success and the good reception of Honor 7 and Huawei Mate S

Being Nexus's flagship smartphone for this year, Huawei Nexus 6P specifications are top notch in every aspect. Starting from the display, it features a 5.7 inch WQHD AMOLED screen with Corning Gorllia Glass 4 protection. 
Under the hood, the device is powered by Snapdragon 810 Octa-core processor v2.1 mated with 3GB of RAM and 3,450 mAh capacity battery. The rear camera is a 12.3 MP with F2.0 and 1.55 μM pixels sensor which is designed to capture more light than a conventional sensor. It also features dual front-ported speakers and USB Type-C port with Quick Charge technology. 

Fingerprint reader is implemented in the device and named, Nexus imprint which to believe the fastest in the market today. Huawei Nexus 6P also runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS on top which seen on LG Nexus 5X.
With Google on the driving seat, Nexus 6P can be assured to receive the fastest and most stable Operating System with least modification. This partnership bring along a halo effect that boosts the prominence of the brand.
