Kopiko Purple League, Malaysia’s First Professional Badminton League
Kopiko Purple League opens a historic chapter in Malaysian badminton as the first professional badminton league with a prize money pool of
RM2 million. The opening ceremony and opening tie kicks off with 12 premium clubs participating in this league where all levels of badminton players (professionals and amateurs) have an opportunity to gain valuable competition experience while also showcasing their skills to badminton fans and officials, thereby raising the standard of Malaysian badminton.
This endeavour is also seen as a perfect platform to create opportunities for retired national badminton players to continue their involvement in the sport, contributing to the goal of making Malaysia one of the leaders in World Badminton.

Kopiko Purple League will start off with 12 clubs on a single tier plan, but will eventually become a multi-tier league, which will accommodate clubs from all over Malaysia.
Kopiko Purple League will allow a limited number of foreign players via the clubs to introduce some international competition into the league to enrich the Kopiko Purple League competition experience.

The competition shall be played between Malaysian based clubs on a single league, round robin format, annually, on dates to be decided by the Purple League. Each tie comprises of two men’s singles, two men’s doubles, one women’s singles, and one mixed doubles (six matches in total).
The system of play shall be 11 points best of 5 games.
