[REVIEW] Asus ZenPower Pro - Pro than before?

Asus first powerbank series - Asus ZenPower is well known with its "credit card" size, which is also the first powerbank that equipped with 2.4A charging output. The success of ZenPower making Asus in creating another powerful series of powerbanks, Asus ZenPower Pro. It is yet to be released in Malaysia, but we are lucky to be the first batch to try out the ZenPower Pro.

No more nonsense and let's dive into how pro the Asus ZenPower Pro can be!


the [A]ppearance

Like the previous and popular ZenPower, Asus try to keep the size of ZenPower Pro as small as a credit card where it is just slightly taller and heavier than the previous one. With the weight of  230 grams, users can carry it around by slotting into the pocket. This round, Asus added another USB port into ZenPower Pro and make it a powerbank with dual USB ports for users to charge two devices at once. Other than that, Asus also feature a useful 70-lumen LED flashlight that has a cool color temperature of 5000K which comes in two modes: High-intensity mode and Power-saving mode. By press and hold power button for 2 seconds, you will able to turn on the LED flashlight. In order to on the power-saving mode, you only need to tap the power button twice when the LED flashlight is on which also means that you will get dimmer light.

Asus ZenPower Pro has the battery capacity of 10,050 mAh which is only 1,000mAh more than the ZenPower I have. The best part about Asus ZenPower Pro is it has the intelligent safety that meets the standards set by JEITA (Japan Electronics and Information Technology Association), where it monitors ambient temperatures and adjusts the charging current and voltage accordingly and deliver safety levels that are higher than other industry standards. The charging time of Asus ZenPower Pro is only 6 hours with 2A charger, however it can takes up to 9 hours with 1A charger. You can just leave your powerbank with power adapter connected before sleep. By the time you wake up, it is fully charged and able start working anytime.

Asus ZenPower Pro is the first powerbank that comes with 2.4A dual USB outputs where most of the powerbank outside packed with 2.4A and 1A output. If you are using smartphone that powered by Qualcomm processor, you will be able to enjoy the power of Quick Charge 2.0 with the silver-framed USB port. The Quick Charge 2.0 technology is designed to charge the batteries of supported device much faster than conventional chargers. With the technology, Asus ZenPower Pro can detect devices that powered by Qualcomm processor and deliver high charging speed. You can leave your original charger at home as it is not longer needed where you can use the ZenPower Pro to enjoy the high speed charging. Unfortunately, the Quick Charge 2.0 only support smartphone that packed with Qualcomm processor. In my case, even though I can't enjoy the fast charging since I do not have any smartphone with Qualcomm processor, but the 2.4A outputs is doing a good job in saving my charging time.

the [D]enouement

In short, there is not much difference between the capacity of Asus ZenPower Pro and the previous ZenPower, but it does attract me with the premium feel and features it has been giving me, more than what I have expected from a powerbank. Asus had sent their powerbanks to various international testing facilities for safety compliance certification, affirming them as one of the safest power chargers in the world. RM 129 for a powerbank with so many features and safety certifications, Asus ZenPower Pro is totally worth for money!
